Plume

So here's the thing, Tula Pink creates beautiful prints. But they're also kind of difficult to use all together. There's a huge range of scales and crazy colors. I purchased some Plume precuts and struggled with what to do with them. Finally, I called in a degreed artist for help. We worked out a layout and I pieced it - measuring and marking every seam. This one is perfect at the points. I wanted to get a fabulous free motion quilter to do that part for me, but recently I decided I'd rather just have it done. So it has an all over from my local shop - the pattern is birds in ivy. Perfect. Here it is before washing:

Placemats

I was going to make four, but these are a lot of work. Perhaps I will complete the set for Christmas next year.

I do love the look of recycled jeans.

Update

Having recently moved, there hasn't been much time for the crafting. The new sewing room is much bigger, but lacks lighting. I've also decided to get some new furniture for it, and it's taking a while to assemble. Hopefully, it will be photo-ready in another month.

A t-shirt quilt

This is actually something I made way back, maybe 7 years ago, for my in-laws. They used to do the Jingle Bell Run every year and they'd get a t-shirt.

What to do with the rest of the sweatshirt

I cut it into 4 in. squares and used it as batting in a crib-size rag quilt of 5 in. squares of quilt weight cotton. It worked well. It's not as fluffy as cotton batting, but it has a nice weight, is sturdy, and is green!
